the year of the rooster

Interesting.. I had never before considered which year I was born in, but I guess its year of the rooster. This is pretty accurate, too. You would think that I would have been born in the year of the horse though! ;)

"People born in the Year of the Rooster are deep thinkers, capable, and talented. They like to be busy and are devoted beyond their capabilities and are deeply disappointed if they fail. People born in the Rooster Year are often a bit eccentric, and often have rather difficult relationship with others. They always think they are right and usually are! They frequently are loners and though they give the outward impression of being adventurous, they are timid. Rooster people's emotions, like their fortunes, swing very high to very low. They can be selfish and too outspoken, but are always interesting and can be extremely brave. They are most compatible with Ox, Snake, and Dragon."

The first two sentences of this next one fit, but after that not so much:
"Roosters are very loyal individuals. They do not like dishonesty or mockery of any sort. They are blunt, up front and honest people and expect those around them to be the same. Roosters are happiest when they are surrounded by others, at a party or just a social gathering. They even enjoy the spotlight and will exhibit their charisma and wit in a minute. This star quality can be overbearing, for a Rooster expects you to listen to him while he speaks and can become agitated if you don’t. Roosters do have a tendency to brag about themselves and their achievements and demand an attentive audience when doing so."

More about roosters:

Roosters are typically fit people. They enjoy sports and active hobbies such as hiking and swimming. They don’t get sick very often because they tend to fight illness fairly well. However, when they do get ill, they usually bounce right back. Roosters can be a little high strung, suffering from dramatic mood swings and stress.

As proud as they are of themselves, you can only imagine how they are about their homes. Roosters put a lot of effort into their homes as they reflect the Roosters assets and taste. They are very neat and clean and have everything in its own specific place. They make a chore out of cleaning out drawers and closets with a knack for rearranging them better and better each time they attempt it. This habit is enough to drive anyone berserk, but a Rooster’s family understands his need for a dramatic appearance.

(ok, this is utter crock.. yeah, I totally organize all my drawers! pause pause NOT!! (borat joke of the day!)

An eye for detail means the Rooster is pretty good at handling his finances. He is able to give others good financial advice and can help get budgets under control. However, when it comes to his own finances, the Rooster is either or. He either spends it all or hoards it for a rainy day.

Hobbies and Pastimes: Fishing, gardening, swimming, hiking, mountain climbing

Roosters Dislike: Being made fun of, bad hygiene, impoliteness, unmotivated people

Roosters are generally pretty black or white when it comes to their feelings. They either like you, or they don’t. There is no in between. Although they are vocal with opinions and ideas, Roosters are pretty tight-lipped about their personal emotions and feelings. They certainly don’t wear their hearts on their sleeves. They are intensely private people who never kiss and tell.

Another twist.. a LIBRA rooster!
A disorganized workplace or home will send this Rooster into a tailspin. Clutter is his kryptonite, he hates it. (Did I mention that I HATE clutter??) He is sophisticated and collected, admired by many for his cool demeanor.

And, roosters get along super well with people born in the year of the snake.

Interesting, but I think most of this is pretty sketchy! :P

for I am Caesar

"Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war, in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind. And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch, and the blood boils with hate, and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear, and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all their rights unto the leader, and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar."

another quick update

So lots has happened since my last update. Again, I find myself at work so this post will be initally without pictures. It will also likely be boring, as the only things I have to say of interest are not suitable for public perusal. Mark, Vy, Sean... you know what I'm talking about. ;)

So on with the boring news. The climbing competition was Saturday Oct. 21st, and surprise surprise I took second in women's advanced, behind Cara. I found this suprising because I am barely intermediate, let alone advanced, but however. I guess when you place 2nd out of all the women there they're gonna put you in advanced regardless of where you think you should be. This is not to say I am super good, only that most of the women there were beginners, and the super strong women (other than cara) weren't competing.

The weekend after that was the weekend of the halloween parties! Friday night was fun, a bunch of us went to PES's party which was KICKIN'! There must have been 100 people there, the house was all done up with green lights, cobwebs, red lights, pumpkins, etc. A little bizarre was the fact that half the people there were from st. andrews, and were on average half my age. But whatever. Before we went to PES's we partied a bit at my place, which was good. We were quite a crew. Adam was "strapped for cash", Jones was a very convincing darth vader, Erick was a kissing booth, Angela was a goth chick, Jessica P. was a ninja, Matt Peck was a "Hello I'm:" sticker, and I was a dominatrix.

On Saturday night Jess R. and I got together for some feline fun.

We dressed ourselves up as big cats.. Jess was a tiger and I was a cheetah. We did the whole face paint bit, and had super awesome tails which harley the real cat thought were just too amusing to pass up. Jess's tail had sprouted a few feathers as well as being bent to fuck by the time Harley had finished with it. He tried the same with my tail but got a little discouraged when I hissed at him. ;) Vy, do you remember the cat comment from cerberus? ironic, no?

We all went to Jess P's party, which wasn't much of a party so from there we went to the 20/20 club, where an old dude kept pulling on my tail and meowing at me. I wanted to hiss at him, but unfortunately didn't get the chance. The 20/20 club was fun.. it was super packed and we were all dancing and jess and I kept getting our kitty paint all over everyone. I wussed out early but I guess Jess and co. stayed til close and then went back to Jess's, where Jess spent the remainder of the night socializing with ralph and buella.

This coming weekend Cindy Ishoy (Canadian Olympic medalist in dressage) is back in Saint John for a clinic, and I am riding on Friday and Saturday. It should be good, there are more people riding this time because the clinic is three days instead of two. So thats my weekend!

Then on the following Wednesday (a week from today) I head down to Baltimore, Maryland for work. Its time for me to meet the boys at the applied physics labortatory of John Hopkin's University.

busy busy busy....
